Chapter ten

Hot and sticky

No matter how many times Birgitta tried to dodge Malik, he always found another way to corner her. More than half a dozen times, he’d managed to catch her in the kitchen. It didn’t take him long to figure out he could trap her in the corner of the counters, slamming his pelvis into hers as he stared down into her eyes.

Birgitta couldn’t resist him. Malik used this to his advantage. Birgitta didn’t see the harm in it until Kent almost caught them.

Somehow, her hand had drifted down to the front of his pants, grabbing his crotch. She hadn’t told her hand to go down there and yet, there it was. When she’d heard Kent’s car in the driveway, she shoved Malik away from her.

There’d been too many close calls lately. She couldn’t stand it. Every time Malik came into the room while she was alone, she stopped whatever she was doing and darted away. She hated feeling this way in her own home, her frustration was building slowly. Usually, when she was this anxious, she’d go into her box of toys and spend an afternoon in bed, playing with herself until she couldn’t move.

There was no way she would be doing that today, though. Kent was at work, leaving her and Malik home alone. For most of the day, she’d trapped herself in the bedroom, refusing to come out. Even though she’d needed to use the bathroom for hours, she didn’t want to leave. She knew the second she stepped out of the bedroom, Malik would be on her.

This was the first time they’d been left alone. Kent had taken a few days off work to help get Malik settled, but now, he was back at the office. Malik had been in and out of the house, spending hours here and there at the mechanic shop. Birgitta thought the situation would be fine since their schedules hadn’t lined up . . . until today.

Birgitta couldn’t wait anymore. Her bladder was aching and her legs wouldn’t stop jittering. Birgitta forced herself to get out of her comfortable, warm bed sheets and crossed the room as silently as she could. She paused in front of her bedroom door, listening for signs of Malik. Was he downstairs? Or was he in the bedroom, still soundly sleeping?

She opened the door quietly, hoping that the handle wouldn’t squeak, declaring to the whole house what she was doing. As she pulled open the door, she wedged her head between the door and peered out into the hallway.

Bright, white sunlight was beaming through the windows to her right. Through the small squares of glass, she could see the gray-blue sky outside. At first, it looked like it was a rare, clear day, but when she looked closer, she saw that the whole sky was overcast. A sinking feeling weighted her shoulders, deflating her mood. It looked like it might snow.

Might not be able to run today, she thought. What other excuse can I use to get out of the house?

There was no need to waste more time.
